Dear ACS Community,

On Friday, we had a wonderful celebration of Bolivian culture and arts through the presentation of Bolivian folkloric dances for Carnival.  This year was special in that it also commemorates the bicentennial of Bolivia.   A big “thank you” goes out to Claudia Vargas for organizing and promoting this event.  She, however, could not have done it alone.  So, we also want to thank all the parents, teachers, and students who dedicated hours of practice, organization, and preparation.  Thank you very much.  Finally, the event would have not been possible without the hard work of our facilities staff setting up tents, moving bleachers, and generally preparing the campus.

Our celebrations of Carnival are not over.  Quite the contrary, they have only just begun.  This Friday, the Elementary School will host Carnival dances in the gym.  Please be on the lookout for more information from the Elementary School. 

In addition, we will celebrate the arts midweek.  There will be an ACS music event at the Hard Rock Cafe this Wednesday starting at 6 PM.   Thank you to Ms. Anna and her students for continuing these inspiring events.

Estimada Comunidad de ACS,

El viernes tuvimos una maravillosa celebración de la cultura y el arte boliviano a través de la presentación de danzas folclóricas de Bolivia para el Carnaval.  Este año fue especial porque también se conmemora el bicentenario de Bolivia.  Enviamos un gran “gracias” a Claudia Vargas por organizar y promover este evento.  Ella, sin embargo, no podría haberlo hecho sola.  Por eso, también queremos agradecer a todos los padres, profesores y alumnos que dedicaron horas de práctica, organización y preparación.  Muchas gracias.  Finalmente, el evento no hubiera sido posible sin el arduo trabajo del personal de nuestras instalaciones colocando carpas, moviendo graderías y, en general, preparando el campus.

Nuestra celebración de Carnaval no ha terminado.  Al contrario, acaba de comenzar.  Este viernes, Primaria tendrá sus bailes de Carnaval en el gimnasio.  Estén atentos para mayor información de Primaria.

Además, celebraremos las artes a media semana.  Habrá un evento musical de ACS en el Hard Rock Café este miércoles a partir de las 6 p.m.   Gracias a Ms Anna y sus alumnos por continuar con estos eventos inspiradores.

 Dear ACS Community,

We know that the idea of community is important to ACS.  Of course, it is not just any type of community.  It is a community that cares for and nurtures its members, upholding certain values and responsibilities.  ACS has tried to encapsulate the type of community that we value in a document entitled community commitments.  We took this to the board last fall, and now we are ready to promote it among our broader community.  You will soon see it being emphasized throughout our school with all stakeholders.  This is part of our broader effort to promote and model character and values for our students.  It challenges us all to positively support one another in all our relationships.  You can find a link to the Community Commitment here.

This week is an exciting week at ACS because it culminates in our Secondary School's celebration of Carnival on Friday.  Our students and faculty have been working hard to prepare traditional dances, and we hope you will join us on Friday to cheer them on in their performances.  For those of you with children in the Elementary School, next week we will have the Elementary Carnival Entrada.

Estimada Comunidad de ACS,

Sabemos que la idea de comunidad es importante para ACS.  Por supuesto, no es un tipo de comunidad cualquiera.  Es una comunidad que cuida y nutre a sus miembros, manteniendo ciertos valores y responsabilidades.  El ACS ha tratado de resumir el tipo de comunidad que valoramos en un documento titulado Compromisos comunitarios.  Llevamos esto a la Directiva el otoño pasado, y ahora estamos listos para promoverlo entre nuestra comunidad en general.  Pronto verán ustedes enfatizar esto en todo nuestro colegio con todas las partes interesadas.  Esto es parte de nuestro esfuerzo más amplio para promover y modelar el carácter y los valores de nuestros estudiantes.  Nos desafía a todos a apoyarnos positivamente unos a otros en todas nuestras relaciones.  Pueden encontrar un enlace al Compromiso Comunitario aqui.

Esta es una semana emocionante en ACS porque culmina con la celebración del Carnaval de Secundaria el viernes.  Nuestros alumnos y profesores han estado trabajando arduamente para preparar los bailes tradicionales y esperamos puedan unirse a nosotros el viernes para animarlos en sus presentaciones.  Para todos aquellos que tienen niños en Primaria, la próxima semana será la Entrada de Carnaval de Primaria.

 Dear ACS Community,

Here at school, we are starting our sixth week of classes in Quarter 3.  It is a busy time of year academically, with students hard at work in their classes.  In addition, our seniors are still receiving university acceptances and offers of scholarships.  

In addition to their academic pursuits, our students and teachers are working hard to prepare for the upcoming carnival entrada.  The sounds of the practices can even be heard echoing around the neighborhood on the weekends.  We can't wait to welcome you to campus to see the culmination of the hard work put in by our school community.

Estimada Comunidad de ACS,

Aquí en el colegio, ya estamos comenzando nuestra sexta semana de clases del tercer trimestre. Es una época del año muy ocupada académicamente, con los alumnos trabajando duro en sus clases.  Además, nuestros alumnos de la Promoción aún siguen recibiendo aceptaciones universitarias y ofertas de becas.

Adicionalmente a sus actividades académicas, nuestros alumnos y profesores están trabajando duro para prepararse para la próxima entrada de carnaval.  Los sonidos de las prácticas incluso se pueden escuchar resonando en el vecindario los fines de semana.  Estamos ansiosos por darles la bienvenida al campus para que vean la culminación del arduo trabajo realizado por nuestra comunidad escolar.
