With virtual school experience fresh in everyone's minds, the work of teaching and learning in schools around the world has never been more visible. Teaching and learning is at the heart of our mission at ACS, but many less visible parts of the school work to support that mission. In particular, our business office is working very hard to examine existing procedures, compare them with global best practices, and make systematic improvements. To support that effort, we have engaged the services of a new financial auditing firm as well as a new legal team who is conducting a legal audit. In both areas, we have asked the auditors to leave no stone unturned so that we can create a compressive roadmap for improvement.
The selection of both firms involved extensive processes with many applicants. For the financial audit, we are proud to announce that after carefully evaluating 16 auditing firms that presented their proposals to perform the 2021 financial audit, Kenner S.R.L was selected. Kenner S.R.L has over 10 years of general experience and expertise in performing financial audits for non-profit organizations and educational institutions. Regarding the legal audit and legal representation, we are pleased to inform you that the school has retained the services of BAQSN as the new legal advisors for the 2022-2023 term. BAQSN is a full-service law firm with national and international recognition and extensive experience with educational institutions.
We also want to take this opportunity to thank Alejandra Blanco and Lourdes Segovia for their collaboration and legal advice to the school for the last 10 years. Ms. Blanco and Ms. Segovia have not only provided legal advice, but have also been good friends of the ACS community for many years. We thank them for their dedicated service to our community.
On a different note, I would like to wish all ACS families a healthy and safe Carnival break. As it is a relatively short break and COVID-19 cases continue to drop, we will not be requiring mandatory COVID-19 testing to return to school. If, however, you assess your risk or the risk you pose to others as high following the break, you may connect to school virtually.
