 Dear ACS Community,

This week is Thanksgiving week, and it causes us to pause and reflect on all that we are thankful for.  I hope that we can all use this time to thank those around us who have a positive impact on our lives. 

Thinking back to last week, I'm thankful to Ms. Anna for organizing the secondary school recital and for all the parents and students who supported the event.  

This week, I'm thankful for Ms. Elba and her team of coaches and chaperones.  They are with the high-school students at friendship games in Santa Cruz.  

I'm also thankful for the whole ACS community, especially the dedicated faculty and staff at ACS who educate and nourish our children.  

Finally, don't forget to sign up for the Homecoming activities on the weekend of the 6th and 7th of December.  It promises to be an exciting event.

Have a great short week ahead and a wonderful Thanksgiving break.

Esta semana es la semana de Acción de Gracias, lo que nos invita a hacer una pausa y reflexionar sobre todo aquello por lo que estamos agradecidos. Espero que todos podamos aprovechar este tiempo para agradecer a todos aquellos que tienen un impacto positivo en nuestras vidas.

Recordando la semana pasada, agradezco a Ms Anna por organizar el recital de secundaria y a todos los padres y alumnos que apoyaron este evento.

Esta semana, agradezco a Ms Elba y a su equipo de entrenadores y acompañantes. Están con los alumnos de secundaria en los juegos de la amistad en Santa Cruz

También agradezco a toda la comunidad de ACS, especialmente al dedicado profesorado y personal de ACS que educa y nutre a nuestros niños.

Finalmente, no se olviden de inscribirse en las actividades de ‘Homecoming’ el fin de semana del 6 y 7 de diciembre. Promete ser un evento emocionante.

 Dear ACS Community,

I hope you enjoyed the long weekend with your friends and family.   

I also want to say thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the International Day activities last week.  It was wonderful to see our students representing many nations in the International Day parade.  Thank you also to all the parents who supported the International Day fair, and a special thank you to all the staff members who helped to organize the event.

In addition, the secondary school art, drama, and technology programs celebrated the Bolivian bicentennial as well as 100 years of Bolivian cinema.  This new event was a novel way of combining the three disciplines and honoring Bolivia's contribution to the world of cinema.  Thank you to Patti, Vero, and Diego for making it possible.  

This week on Friday we are looking forward to our secondary school holiday recital as well as a coffee on multilingual learners. 

Please also be on the lookout for information about our Homecoming activities on the 6th and 7th of December.  There will be lots of activities, including athletic competitions between participants.  Homecoming is not just for alumni; current parents and students can also participate.

Espero que hayan disfrutado del fin de semana largo con sus amigos y familiares.

También quiero agradecer a todos los que asistieron a las actividades del Día Internacional la semana pasada. Fue maravilloso ver a nuestros alumnos representando a muchas naciones en el desfile. Gracias también a todos los padres que apoyaron a la feria del Día Internacional y un agradecimiento especial a todo el personal que ayudó a organizar este evento.

Adicionalmente, los programas de arte, teatro y tecnología de secundaria celebraron el bicentenario de Bolivia y también los 100 años del cine boliviano. Este nuevo evento fue una forma original de combinar las tres disciplinas y honrar la contribución de Bolivia al mundo del cine. Gracias a Patti, Vero y Diego por hacerlo posible.

Esperamos con ansias el recital navideño de secundaria que tendrá lugar este viernes, así como también el café sobre estudiantes multilingües.

Estén atentos a la información sobre las actividades de nuestro ‘Homecoming’ los días 6 y 7 de diciembre. Habrá muchas actividades, incluyendo competencias deportivas entre los participantes. La celebración de ‘Homecoming’ no es solo para ex alumnos; los padres y alumnos actuales también pueden participar.

Dear ACS Community,

Congratulations to Bolivia and to our new President Rodrigo Paz for celebrating a peaceful transition of power this past weekend. We are honored to count the new president among our school community. 

Thank you to all of the parents who came out to school on Friday for conferences in the secondary school and for the Child Protection Coffee.  

Please remember that this week at ACS will be a short-week as there is a holiday on Friday the 14th.  Although the week is short, we have some exciting events.  On Wednesday there will be an arts and drama showcase in the secondary school.  Then on Thursday the elementary school will celebrate with an international fair.  Please be on the lookout for more information from each division.

Felicitamos a Bolivia y a nuestro nuevo presidente, Rodrigo Paz, por la pacífica transición de poder celebrada el pasado fin de semana.  Nos honra contar con el nuevo presidente entre nuestra comunidad escolar.

Agradecemos a todos los padres que asistieron a las conferencias de secundaria y al Café sobre Protección al Menor el día viernes.

Recordarles que esta semana en ACS será corta, ya que el viernes 14 es feriado. A pesar de que la semana es corta, tenemos eventos muy interesantes. El miércoles habrá una muestra de arte y teatro en Secundaria.  Luego, el jueves, Primaria celebrará la feria internacional.  Estén atentos a la información que recibirán de cada división.

 Dear ACS Community,

I hope you enjoyed the recent holiday with your family. We were also happy to host so many of you on campus for our annual Halloween celebration.  

On Friday of this week, we have Parent-Teacher-Student conferences in the secondary school.  In addition, on that same day we will have a parent coffee in the elementary school focusing on child protection.  Child protection is one of the most important responsibilities of any school.  Here at ACS we have a robust system of child protection, and we audit our system regularly using a tool from the Global Safeguarding Collaborative. If you want to learn more about our child protection system, we invite you to the coffee on Friday.  

I would like to remind our whole community to vote either for or against the proposed change to the bylaws.  As per our board bylaws, the voting will be open until midnight on Thursday, the 13th of November.  An individualized ballot has been delivered to the registered email of all members in good standing.  

Finally, please remember that Friday, the 14th of November, is a holiday declared by the La Paz Department.

Espero que hayan disfrutado del feriado reciente   con sus familias. Nos alegró mucho recibir a tantos de ustedes en el campus para nuestra celebración anual de Halloween.

El viernes de esta semana, tendremos las conferencias de padres-profesores-alumnos en secundaria. Además, ese mismo día, tendremos el café para padres en primaria con el tema de la protección infantil. La protección infantil es una de las responsabilidades más importantes de cualquier colegio. En ACS, contamos con un sólido sistema de protección infantil y lo auditamos periódicamente utilizando una herramienta de la Global Safeguarding Collaborative. Si desean obtener mayor información sobre nuestro sistema de protección infantil, los invitamos al café del viernes.

Me gustaría recordar a todos los miembros de nuestra comunidad que voten a favor o en contra de la propuesta de modificación de los estatutos.  Según los estatutos de nuestra directiva, la votación estará abierta hasta la medianoche del jueves 13 de noviembre. Se ha enviado una boleta individual al correo electrónico registrado de todos los miembros que están al día con los pagos.

Finalmente, recuerden que el viernes 14 de noviembre es un día festivo declarado por el departamento de La Paz.
