Dear ACS Community,
I have been delighted to get an opportunity to see and hear from so many of you in the last few weeks. The focus groups, functional area committees and parent coffees have allowed us to get a great deal of input from students, parents, and teachers. As we are moving forward quickly in all areas of the school, it is critical that we get this input to make sure that we arrive at a place that our community wants to be.
As an example, we had more than 50 people at a coffee last Friday morning focused on learning and teaching at ACS. We are already planning to use the information gathered with our faculty and staff. In addition, it provided rich information about potential topics for future events.
We continued our work partnering with our community this morning with an event examining experiential learning and our classroom without walls program. You may not realize that classroom without walls at ACS started back in August of 1986 with trips to Sucre, Sajama, and the Incallajta ruins in Cochabamba. At that time, it was limited to the junior class and students could choose between trips. After almost 40 years, now is an exciting time to re-examine the program, comparing it to experiential learning programs around the world and setting new goals. I very much enjoyed starting that work with some of you this morning.

Estoy muy contento de haber tenido la oportunidad de ver y escuchar a muchos de ustedes durante las últimas semanas. Los grupos focales, los comités de áreas funcionales y los cafés para padres nos han permitido obtener una gran cantidad de comentarios por parte de los alumnos, padres y profesores. A medida que avanzamos rápidamente en todas las áreas del colegio, es fundamental que obtengamos esta información para asegurarnos de llegar al lugar en el que nuestra comunidad quiere estar.
Como ejemplo, el pasado viernes por la mañana tuvimos a más de 50 personas en un café centrado en el aprendizaje y la enseñanza en ACS. Ya estamos planeando utilizar la información recopilada con nuestro personal docente y administrativo. Además, nos proporcionó valiosa información sobre temas potenciales para eventos futuros.
Continuamos nuestro trabajo en conjunto con nuestra comunidad esta mañana en un evento que examina el aprendizaje experiencial y nuestro programa Clases fuera de las aulas. Quizás no sepan que el programa Clases fuera de las aulas en ACS tuvo su inicio allá por agosto de 1986 con viajes a Sucre, Sajama y las ruinas de Incallajta en Cochabamba. En esas épocas, los viajes se limitaban a los juniors, y los alumnos podían elegir entre viajes. Después de casi 40 años, es emocionante reexaminar el programa, comparándolo con programas de aprendizaje experienciales en todo el mundo y estableciendo nuevos objetivos. Disfruté mucho comenzar este trabajo con algunos de ustedes esta mañana.
