Dear ACS Community,
As you know, we are monitoring COVID-19 incidence carefully, and the data is now beginning to show a slight increase in cases in La Paz, although the national increase still appears to be dominated by the numbers in Santa Cruz. Over the weekend, we also had our third case of COVID-19 in the school year that required contact tracing. All of the impacted families have been contacted with instructions regarding quarantine and testing. We appreciate your continued vigilance in keeping your children at home and getting them tested if they show any symptoms. We also encourage everyone who is eligible to be vaccinated. While any case is a concern, there is still no evidence of any transmission taking place at school.
On a different note, many of you may have been involved in the school accreditation process that happened over the last few years. You may have answered surveys, participated in committees, or met with the visiting team. Accreditation is a lengthy process designed to help schools evaluate their current state, make plans for improvement, and receive external feedback and validation for their efforts. ACS received very positive feedback from the process and from the visiting team, but recently, we received even greater recognition.
Our accrediting agency in the United States, Cognia, recently recognized ACS as a School of Distinction. You can find more information at the link in my message. Each year, Cognia recognizes schools that best exemplify excellence in education and service to learners based on the rigorous accreditation process. ACS is now one of those schools.
This recognition is a testament to all the hard work by teachers, administrators, students, and parents during the accreditation process. I would also like to recognize the superb work of Jamie Otis in leading this effort during the most unusual of times.

Como ustedes saben, estamos monitoreando cuidadosamente la incidencia de COVID-19 y los datos comienzan a mostrar un ligero aumento en los casos en la ciudad de La Paz, aunque en cuanto al panorama nacional todavía parecen estar aumentando los números en la ciudad de Santa Cruz. Durante el fin de semana, hemos tenido un tercer caso de COVID-19 en el colegio y ha requerido una búsqueda de contactos. Nos hemos contactado con todas las familias afectadas con instrucciones sobre la cuarentena obligatoria y pruebas que deben realizarse. Apreciamos la continua vigilancia de mantener a su hijo(a) en casa si presenta síntomas y hacerles la pruebas necesarias. También alentamos a todas las personas elegibles para obtener la vacuna. Si bien cualquier caso es preocupante, todavía no hay evidencia de transmisión de COVID-19 en el colegio.
Otra noticia aparte, es posible que muchos de ustedes hayan estado involucrados en el proceso de acreditación escolar que se llevó a cabo durante los últimos años. Es posible que haya respondido encuestas, participado en comités o se haya reunido con el equipo visitante. La acreditación es un proceso largo diseñado para ayudar a los colegios a evaluar su estado actual, hacer planes de mejora y recibir retroalimentación y validación externas por los esfuerzos. ACS ha recibido comentarios muy positivos en cuanto a este proceso por el equipo visitante y recientemente hemos recibido un reconocimiento aún mayor.
