Dear ACS Community,
I know that the announcement concerning the leadership in our secondary school on Friday caused many mixed emotions across our community. While this is not the appropriate forum to discuss the details, I do want our community to know that these actions were taken with the utmost seriousness, deliberation, and analysis. In addition, no step was taken without the advice of many professionals. I recognize that this may not be apparent from the surface, and I do wish it were possible to be much more open about the details. As you know, the board will host a session on Thursday of this week to discuss leadership in the secondary school. All parents are welcome to attend.
Looking forward, we will be organizing a series of interview panels as part of our search for a new secondary principal. These panel will include both parents and students. We will put out a form in which you can express your interest soon.
In other news, please be reminded that this week is picture week. Please refer to the detailed schedule that was emailed last week for the dates and times of your child's picture opportunity.
We often discuss changes in the educational landscape, but this week during their professional development time, our teachers will be exploring a new technology that has created ripples in schools around the world. That technology is the artificial intelligence portal called ChatGPT. Among other things, ChatGPT is capable of writing a paper on any topic when given a prompt. How will this technology impact the way our students will work in the future, and how can we best prepare them for this future that we can only vaguely predict? This week, our teachers will be exploring these types of questions inspired by work done at other international schools around the world.
Finally, elementary school parents, please be reminded of the STEAM family day coming up on the ninth of March.

Sé que el anuncio acerca del liderazgo de Secundaria el día viernes ocasionó muchas emociones encontradas en nuestra comunidad. Si bien este no es el foro apropiado para discutir los detalles, quiero que nuestra comunidad sepa que esas acciones se tomaron con la mayor seriedad, deliberación y análisis. Además, no se dio ningún paso sin el asesoramiento de muchos profesionales. Reconozco que esto puede no ser aparente desde la superficie, y quisiera que fuera posible ser mucho más abierto sobre los detalles. Como saben, la Directiva realizará una sesión el jueves de esta semana para debatir sobre el liderazgo de secundaria. Todos los padres están invitados a asistir.
Con miras al futuro, organizaremos una serie de paneles de entrevistas como parte de nuestra búsqueda de un nuevo director de secundaria. Este panel incluirá tanto a los padres como a los alumnos. Próximamente publicaremos un formulario en el que podrá manifestar su interés.
