Dear ACS Community,
Last week was an incredible week. First, we hosted the Cougar Cup. There were eight schools that took part, and the competition was so good that no school took first place in more than one event. Our Cougars took first place in Girls Volleyball. Then, they took second in every other event which included: Boys Volleyball, Boys Soccer, and Girls Soccer.
At the end of last week, we celebrated the first Gala at ACS. The Gala raised more than 25,000 USD in gross contributions. This means that we met our goal, and we will be ordering the “bigger” playground equipment that many of you saw illustrated during Family Day Picnic. The Gala was a huge success, not just in terms of money raised, but also in terms of the community spirit that it expressed. We had 174 seats reserved at the Gala, and 83 items were auctioned. It was a night of remembering the past and looking forward to the future. Part of the event celebrated the 43 years of service of Esther Artieda. Students from throughout her career were present, among them were current parents, teachers, administrators, and board members. Two of her last students helped make a video to honor her at the Gala. In another note, Ms. Artieda has never stopped helping the ACS community. In fact, she is currently doing some substitute teaching in High School English. So, you may still see her around the campus.
This week is also a busy week. Tonight, our board meeting will take place at 7 PM in the Theater because our students are busily preparing the auditorium for the Haunted House. On Wednesday, we will also have our General Assembly starting at 6:30 PM in the Theater. During the General Assembly, we will celebrate student accomplishments with student performances, exhibitions of student work, and the acknowledgement of student excellence. The week will cumulate in the Elementary School Halloween Parade on Friday, followed by the Halloween fair from 6:30 – 8:30 PM.
In addition, this week, we will start a weekly special breakfast with the Superintendent and a board member. We will send out random invitations to a small number of parents. If there are additional seats, each week we will invite additional parents from a waiting list. If you would like to join that list, please indicate your interest by completing the linked form. Preference will always be given to parents who have not yet attended.

La semana pasada fue una semana increíble. Primero, organizamos la Copa Cougar. Participaron ocho colegios, y la competencia fue tan buena que ningún colegio obtuvo el primer lugar en más de un evento. Nuestros Cougars obtuvieron el primer lugar en Voleibol femenino. Luego, obtuvieron el segundo lugar en todos los demás eventos, que incluía: Voleibol masculino, fútbol masculino y fútbol femenino.
A finales de la semana pasada celebramos la primera Gala de ACS. La Gala recaudó más de 25.000 USD en aportaciones brutas. Esto significa que cumplimos nuestra meta, y ordenaremos el equipo de juegos “más grande” que muchos de ustedes vieron ilustrado durante el día de Picnic Familiar. La Gala fue un gran éxito, no solo en términos de dinero recaudado, sino también en términos del espíritu comunitario que se expresó. Esta es también una semana muy ocupada. Esta noche, nuestra reunión de la Directiva se llevará a cabo a las 7:00 pm en el Teatro porque nuestros alumnos están ocupados preparando el Auditorio para la ‘Casa Embrujada’. El miércoles también tendremos nuestra Asamblea General a partir de las 6:30 pm en el Teatro. Durante la Asamblea General, celebraremos los logros de los alumnos con actuaciones de los alumnos, exhibiciones de los trabajos de los alumnos y el reconocimiento de la excelencia de nuestros alumnos. La semana culminará con el desfile de Halloween en Primaria el viernes, seguido de la feria de Halloween de 6:30 a 8:30pm.
Además, esta semana comenzará el desayuno especial semanal con el Superintendente y un miembro de la Directiva. Enviaremos invitaciones al azar a un pequeño número de padres. Si hay sitios adicionales, cada semana invitaremos a padres adicionales de una lista de espera. Si desea ser incluido en la lista, indique su interés completando el formulario en el enlace. Siempre se dará preferencia a los padres que aún no hayan asistido.
